Martin proved to be a winner once again at the annual BBC Radio2 Folk Awards ceremony in London on Monday 14th February. Once again he was accorded the title of "Folk Singer of The Year" and the track "Famous Flower of Serving Men" from "Waiting For Angels" was voted Best Traditional Track. Here's what the BBC's Folk Awards website has to say.
"For four decades, Martin Carthy's work has immeasurably enriched the British folk heritage. He is regarded as one of the finest singers and interpreters of traditional music of the British Isles, as well as a highly influential and much-imitated guitarist. Awarded the MBE for services to English folk music in 1998, his drive and enthusiasm are undiminished and he continues to be one of folk music's great innovators."

In December 2004, Martin was presented with a picture that was originally drawn for Melody Maker back in 1977. Drawn in black ink by Jimmy Thompson, this work is previously unpublished yet suburbly captures Martin’s features. Have a look on the photo gallery to see the comparison with the real thing!
